Already for some days there have been demonstrations and popular assemblies at the dam-square in Amsterdam. The gatherings are on one hand in solidarity with the huge demonstrations which are happening in Spain at the moment, on the other it’s about a more general problem being recognized within the current economic and political systems.
Tonight at around 20.30 people started to gather again around the square and at some point started a fairly calm protest in front of the monument. Slogans where being shouted in English and Spanish, and most signs where also bilingual. Surprisingly, a lot signs where not so much statements as they where more invitations to join.
After some more people gathered people decided to sit down and have an assembly, everyone welcome to join, everyone an equal say in the matter.
During the assembly people where listening, sharing views and spawning ideas.
After the initial discussion on the manifesto, people where forming working groups to work on specifics like infrastructure and actions.
As it was getting cold I decided to part, but perhaps more later this week.
